Our training courses are a mix of instruction, hands-on exercises and practical guidance. Media Composer Fundamentals I Course (MC101)

This ‘hands on entry level course’ is delivered part-time in our new iMac suite where you will learn how to use Avid Media Composer as a professional. Media Composer Fundamentals I is an introductory course designed to get a new user up-and-running on the software.  In this course, you will develop an understanding of the video editing process and the basic skills to edit a video project from start to finish. This includes understanding the relationship between media and project files, media storage location, the abilities to create the project file; bring in the source video and audio files; edit the sequence, add titles, music, and basic effects, and then export the finished sequence. The fee for MC101 at Studio 54 is £575 including  course manuals and exam fees. Media Composer Fundamentals II Course (MC110)

This intermediate level  course is for video editors who understand the basics of the editing tools in Media Composer and are ready to move ahead and learn the fundamentals of creating effects within Avid Media Composer. The course is designed to teach you the technical and organisation skills of an assistant editor, and to develop editorial skills with the tools and techniques required to produce a well-edited video.  This course empowers novice users to take their Media Composer skills to the next level. Class projects and exercises are hands-on, giving you the opportunity to work on an unscripted project. This course provides a solid foundation in Media Composer video effects capabilities and in conjunction with the Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC101) course, will prepare you to earn the credential of Avid Certified User: Media Composer. The fee for MC110 at Studio 54 is £450 including  course manuals and exam fees. AVID Certified User Benefits:

Becoming an Avid Certified User for Media Composer verifies that you possess a fundamental understanding of and the capability to use Media Composer, together with a firm grasp of the core skills, workflows, and concepts of non-linear editing on the Avid Media Composer system.

How do I become an Avid Certified User for Media Composer?

Firstly attend the two courses at Studio 54:

To certify you must complete each course, including course projects/exercises, at Studio 54 as an official Avid Learning Partner, then pass the certification each exam.

Who should take these classes? What if I already know how to edit?

The certification courses are designed for film and television editors, producers, or anyone involved in video post-production. For students already familiar with non-linear editing, each course can be taught in either short, 2- to 3-day intensive classes or in evening/weekend classes over a number of weeks. This type of training is appropriate for experienced professionals who simply need to learn the software or update their skills.

What will I receive if I successfully pass the exam?

Along with pride and confidence of becoming an Avid Certified User for Media Composer you will receive:

  • Official certificate available for printing or download, proving your Avid Certified User status
  • Downloadable Logos, for use in your resume, business marketing materials such as business cards and websites
  • (Optional with your express consent) Listing of your credentials on Avid.com under Find a Certified Professional

How long is certification good for?

Your Media Composer certification does not expire. You become certified for a particular version of Media Composer software. You may find it beneficial to update your certification to the current version from time to time. Contact your local Avid Learning Partner for more information.
